All students, sponsored guests, and judges must book their travel to and from the event using CFA Institute’s travel management company. Reservations made through agencies other than that company will not be eligible for reimbursement.

If travelers decide to extend their stay, choose different layovers, etc. CFA Institute will only pay for the most direct (i.e. shortest offered) and economical route round trip option. Personal add-on travel costs will be the responsibility of the traveler.

Students: Students are expected to arrive by 3:00pm on Day 1 of the event and depart on the day after the event concludes. CFA Institute will cover the most direct (i.e. shortest offered) and economical round trip airfare that takes students from their departure city to regional location and back. Personal add-on travel costs will be the responsibility of the student.

Sponsored Guests and Judges: Sponsored guests and judges are expected to arrive anytime on Day 1 of the event and depart the day after the event concludes. CFA Institute will cover the most direct (i.e. shortest offered) and economical round trip airfare that takes travelers from their departure city to the regional location and back. For routes in excess of 3,000 miles (one-way) it is the policy of CFA Institute to allow sponsored guests and judges to book a business class ticket. If you qualify for a business class ticket you may, in lieu of the business class ticket, book an economy class ticket for you and one guest. Personal add-on travel will be the responsibility of the sponsored guest or judge. The sponsored guest and judges could be assessed tax liabilities and it is recommended sponsored guests and judges discuss the option with their tax adviser.

Novel Coronavirus Travel Disruptions, Entry Restrictions, and Delays!

Authorities in several countries have introduced travel restrictions, along with health screening measures at various airports, after an increase in reported 2019-Novel Coronavirus cases. The measures apply primarily to travelers arriving via air either directly, or indirectly, from China. Some airlines have suspended service to and from mainland China.

Travelers may experience severe delays related to disruptions at airports and it is recommended that all travelers reconfirm their itineraries, allow sufficient time for connections, and review the overall feasibility of their journeys given the increased restrictions affecting certain countries. Lengthy delays have been reported due to Immigration/Border Patrol staff scrutinization of travel documents and lengthy traveler interviews. Individuals who have traveled to China within the past 14 days may not be allowed entry into some countries.
